Starting TERN was a bold leap of faith for co-founders Kate and Zoe. Leaving behind successful careers, large teams, and everything they had built, they took the plunge to pursue a shared vision: reimagining the future of retail.
The shift from structured roles to building something from scratch has been one of their biggest challenges - and one of the most rewarding. With no roadmap and no safety net, they’ve had to wear every hat and learn on the go.
Despite their shared background, Kate and Zoe naturally lean into different strengths. Zoe leads operations and finance, while Kate drives marketing and customer experience. Their “divide and conquer” approach helps them stay grounded and focused as they grow Tern together.
